Laboratory of Nanostructures employs 19 people, including: 2 professors, 5 doctors, 6 PhD students, 5 technicians, and 1 supporting employee. The organizational structure of the Laboratory includes: Head of the Nanostructures Laboratory (Prof. Witold Łojkowski), Quality Manager (Agnieszka Opalińska, MSc. Inż.), Technical Laboratory Manager (Jacek Wojnarowicz, PhD, Inż.), Manager of Electron Microscopy Laboratory, and Thermal Analysis Laboratory (Iwona Koltsov, PhD Eng.).

 

 

 

 

 

Maria Małysa

MSc Eng.

 

Graduated from the Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering, Warsaw University of Technology, majoring in Materials Engineering, specialty: Biomaterials

 

Research directions:

  • Design and manufacture of the composite materials with nanocrystalline hydroxyapatite matrix and polymer fiber reinforcement, in particular natural polymer fibers, eg silk. Evaluation of the possibility of using those materials as bone implants.
  • Research on the manufacturing of the ceramic composites based on Al2O3 and ZrO2, especially methods of compaction and sintering
  • Characterization of materials (powders and solid samples): mechanical tests, density and porosity studies, analysis of morphology obtained by scanning electron microscope

Julia Higuchi

 

Julia Higuchi, PhD Eng. MBA

 

Graduated from the Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering of the Warsaw University of Technology with a specialization in biomaterials and the Faculty of Medicine of the Medical University of Warsaw in the field of dental materials. In 2019 obtained MBA degree with distinction (cum laude) at Institute of Computer Science of the Polish Academy of Sciences and Woodbury School of Business, Utah Valley University, USA.

 

Directions of scientific work:

  • Surface modifications of metallic, ceramic and polymer implants with bioactive nanoparticles (ultrasonic coating method, electrospraying method)
  • Fabrication and preclinical studies of fibrous polymer implants by electrospinning for the purposes of maxillo-facial surgery, oral surgery and implantology
  • Study of sonochemical processes in liquids in the presence of nanoparticles
  • R&D project management and implementation
  • Biocompatibility testing of ceramic layers on implants (in vitro, in vivo), certified clinical trials for medical devices
  • Medical devices production in cleanroom environment

Joanna Sobczyk

Joanna Mirosława Sobczyk MSc.

Graduated from Faculty of Biology at the Warsaw University,  Scolarship  at the Tvärminne Zoological Station, Finland. Member of the staff at the Laboratory of Nanostructures  from 2007, author and co-author of publications and chapters of monographies as well as several proposals and reports, coordinator and supervisor of projects realization. Organizer of international meetings and conferences in Poland, like: Warsaw – Karlsruhe Workshop “Futures of Nanotechnology”  at the E-MRS Fall Meetings 2011, Session at the E-MRS Fall Meeting 2012, Conference in Kielce 2014. Included in realization of several projects, between others: FOREMAT, DONANO, NANOFORCE, CEPT I, CEPT II. Redactor of the web content and actualization. Interested in safety use of nanomaterials and green technologies.
